Dr. Kristen Ivani is serving as SRM’s Laboratory Director. Dr. Ivani is a native of San Francisco who earned her BS and MS degrees in Animal Science from UC Davis and the University of Idaho. She was awarded her PhD in Physiology from the Animal Reproduction and Biotechnology group at Colorado State University. Upon graduation she became the Laboratory and Scientific Director at Reproductive Science Center of the San Francisco Bay Area, one of the oldest and most successful IVF programs in Northern California, a position she held for over 30 years. More recently, Kristen works in the IVF Lab for fun as an embryologist and as a laboratory consultant working with programs to improve IVF Laboratory performance and outcomes.
Kristen is a Board-Certified High Complexity Laboratory Director in the disciplines of Embryology and Andrology. She has authored and co-authored over 65 articles, abstracts, and book chapters. She is an active member of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology, Pacific Coast Reproductive Society, American Association of Bioanalysts’ College of Reproductive Biology, and the Northern California Association of Reproductive Biologists. She has served as a journal reviewer and as a Reproductive Laboratory inspector for the College of American Pathologists.
She enjoys very early mornings in the IVF Lab, baking for others, public speaking, backpacking, swimming, traveling, cycling, annoying her family, sharing her love of embryology with anyone who will listen, and volunteering as Director at a historic Girl Scout backpacking camp in the Sierras.
